Young Energisers Programme
Skills for Energy (SfE) are happy to share our new Young Energisers Programme – a free classroom resource designed to develop young people’s skills, whilst raising awareness of the wide range of job opportunities in the energy sector, both now and in the future, to help increase diversity within it.
Developed for year 8 students, SfE have created four interactive, energy-based classroom challenges based on Renewables, Nuclear, Oil & Gas and Emergency Response, working alongside both industry experts and careers leaders to ensure the students receive the most up-to-date knowledge on the industry, whilst also ensuring the activities are aligned with the CDI careers framework and the Gatsby Benchmarks.
The activities include introductions to each sector, highlighting the variety of suitable skills and the different opportunities found within them. This is then followed by an interactive, group activity; designing wind turbines to test blade efficiency, creating electricity pylons to test forces, designing and building a prototype Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) or completing a classroom tabletop exercise.
If you would like to find out any further details, or to receive the programme in full, please contact skills@eeegr.com

Introductory Training Courses
Following the successful development of a range of pioneering one day ‘Introduction to’ training courses, EEEGR and East Coast College are pleased to announce that we are now able to take bookings on to the ‘Introduction to Oil & Gas’ and the ‘Introduction to Offshore Wind’ courses.
The objective of the courses is to introduce key elements of the energy industry to attendees, providing an excellent foundation for new entrants or non-technical personnel who need an overview of the sector to support their job role. They will suit those working in support roles (e.g. HR, admin, finance), as well as companies either looking to move into the industry or supporting the industry as a small part of their business.
The courses are held on site at the Lowestoft campus of East Coast College and spaces are charged at £150 + VAT per delegate including lunch.
For larger groups, we can arrange for the courses to be delivered in house as required.
Please contact Marie Hoskins-Davies, marie.hoskinsdavies@eeegr.com, 01493 412192 for further details or to book your space.

Degree Programme Support
Skills for Energy supports the development of the University of East Anglia’s undergraduate and postgraduate energy engineering programmes, as well as graduate entry into the industry from other disciplines.
This MSc programme combines investment in engineering with substantial expertise across the Faculty of Science in the fields of applied mathematics, energy resources, environmental management and electronic engineering. It has been developed in partnership with industry and employers through close collaboration with EEEGR, aiming to address the national and regional shortage of high-calibre qualified graduates in energy engineering.
All students will be required to undertake a substantial engineering project as part of the programme, with practical elements carried out in an industrial setting within the energy sector. Accreditation has been awarded by the Energy Institute to allow graduates partial exemption towards CEng status.

Energy Skills Foundation Programme (ESFP)
The ESFP is a one year college based NVQ level 2 pre-apprenticeship course delivered by East Coast College. It aims to introduce students to the main engineering disciplines required within the energy industry so they can make an informed career choice.
The course was developed by industry to provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge of various aspects of the energy industry as well as experience the engineering disciplines required for their potential future careers.
The course involves studying for several energy related qualifications and offers exciting opportunities to visit local employers and tour sites such as Sizewell Nuclear Power Station, Bacton Gas Terminal and a Seajacks jack-up crane barge.
The skills and knowledge acquired are valued by employers and can help learners progress to an apprenticeship programme or technician level courses relating to the energy industry.
